Who We Are
The Petroleum Accountants Society of Kansas (PASOK) is a professional organization for accounting professionals working in the petroleum industry. Memberships are available to residents of the State of Kansas, who are actively engaged in a directly related field to the oil and gas industry, and whose duties and responsibilities have a direct relationship to the accounting function of the oil and gas industry.
PASOK History
On April 30, 1936, a meeting was held in the offices of Derby Oil Company in Wichita, Kansas, to complete plans for organization of the Petroleum Accountants Society of Kansas. The price of oil was approximately $1.25 per barrel and taxes hovered on the horizon!
The purpose of this organization was identified as "the collecting and sharing of fundamentally sound accounting principles and methods; to develop, improve, extend, and (as far as practicable) standardize the science and art of petroleum accounting." It is significant to note that the By-law changes have been minimal and that the stated purpose has been adhered to.
A long and illustrious list of names have marched through our yearbooks--and have left their mark. PASOK has been recognized as the "keeper of the Pursestrings" of the oil and gas industry of Kansas. The members have both warranted and received a certain respect. It is a privilege and an honor to be a member of PASOK.
